Job Description
The successful appointee(s) will be working under the supervision and mentorship of Yuan Pan, PhD, Assistant Professor in the Department of Symptom Research.
We are a young lab looking for highly motivated individuals with a strong interest in neuroscience and/or cancer biology. Our team studies the neuroncancer and neuron-glia interactions in neurofibromatosis type 1 (NF1), a cancer predisposition syndrome. We use state-of-art neuromodulatory techniques, preclinical mouse models, primary cell culture, and molecular biology approaches to achieve these goals.
The candidate will gain an understanding of neuronal regulation of nervous system cancer and glia-mediated neurological deficits. They will learn skillsets in neuroscience, cancer biology, cell biology, and molecular biology. Dr. Pan will guide the postdoctoral fellow(s) in study design, data analysis, interpretation, presentation, manuscript writing, and grant application.
The candidate
An ideal candidate should have a doctoral degree, with a background in neuroscience, cell biology, molecular biology, genetics, or related fields. Prior experience in electrophysiology is highly desired. Experience in the following skillsets is preferred but not all required: mouse handling, tissue processing, cell culture, gene expression manipulation, microscopy, immunohistochemistry, qPCR. The postdoctoral fellow is expected to be highly motivated, dedicated, organized, and have excellent technical skills, communication skills, and a strong work ethic. The candidate is expected to be an excellent team player who can work together with others.
